PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards)

What’s included:

  • Reference checks (covering 3 years or last 2 employers)
  • Basic Disclosure Identity check

Who it’s for:

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard has set the standard expected in terms of background checking employees of organisation s who hold, handle, and process or exchange cardholder information. Enforcement is achieved through annual audits and penalties for non- compliance are large. Banking and finance companies, insurance, payment processing companies, retailers (any organisation complying with PCI standards)

BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Screening)

Who it’s for:

BPSS sets the standards for employers undertaking government or defence work, who are responsible for a prescribed level of background checking prior to any application for an NSV Security Clearance. The process must be completed within 3 months of commencement. Employers who want to provide a baseline standard of checks for non-regulated environments, i.e. IT, government contractors.

BS7858 is primarily orientated towards the Security Industry, regulated by the SIA and endorsed by a number of trade associations. As a screening standard, it does lend itself for adoption by non-regulated employers who are seeking a robust benchmark againstwhich to screen. Security companies, SIA licenced operators
